HEIstorical Research Presented at ITISE 2026

Maspalomas, Gran Canaria, Spain – July 15–17, 2026

HEIstorical research results were presented at ITISE 2026 – the 12th International Conference on Time Series and Forecasting, a forum for scientists, engineers, educators and students working on time series analysis and forecasting across computer science, mathematics, statistics and related fields.

The Paper

“Crack patterns using machine learning predictions on damaged unreinforced masonry walls”
Dorin Radu, Marijana Hadzima-Nyarko, Karlo Emmanuel Nyarko, Ercan Işık and Eleonora Desnica

The work addresses the identification of potential crack patterns, discontinuities and brittle failure modes in unreinforced masonry under seismic and gravitational loads, using machine learning predictions to inform compatible, reversible and sustainable retrofit solutions for historic buildings. The author team brings together all HEIstorical partner institutions.

Strengthening Institutional Cooperation

Alongside the conference, several meetings were held at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, strengthening relations between this institution and the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transilvania University of Brașov, including a meeting with Prof. Ignacio Rojas, coordinator of international relations.
